Legal Stuff

2023/04/17

Yes, this is the legal stuff, also known as terms of service (terms and conditions). We know it is tedious but it is important, so please read before placing your order!

Because we understand your frustration, strange words and uncommon terms are provided for in bold, to point them out to you.

Before we go into the terms and conditions a quick note:

We want to assure you that Ribbon Place has been in the narrow fabric printing industry since 2007, and we have served a great many corporate, marketing and events companies over these years with a very good track record.  Our printing quality is top of the range, and our work ethic and methodology has been proven to be successful in completing many large scale ribbon project rollouts with multinational corporate companies as well as small one man operations.

Updating of these Terms

Changes to these terms will become effective immediately when they are posted to this Website. We will always try to notify our customers (that is you) of any changes by posting a notice on our front page of the website. Should you continue to use our online shop, we consider your acceptance to changes and updates.

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Ribbon Place website located at the domain name www.ribbonplace.co.za. as well as our complementary website www.awarenessribbons.co.za and www.printwithgodex.co.za. By accessing and using these websites, you, the user agree to be bound by our terms and conditions set out in this legal notice.  You, the user may not access, display, use, download, and/or otherwise copy or distribute content obtained on the website for marketing, commercial and any other purposes without the explicit written consent of Ribbon Place (Pty) Ltd.

Our Terms are laid out to first explain the standard stock items (online shop) and then the branded and custom made regulations.
Please read till the end for information on all our products and procedures.

Use of our online shop at www.ribbonplace.co.za

The first thing you have to know is we don’t have a physical shop.
Our online division is an online store, with a courier delivery service, much like Amazon or Takealot.

Therefore our standard stock and shipping policy is 3 – 5 working days to get a standard stock order ready and shipped. If you are looking for your ribbons urgently, please confirm stock first.  This quoted time includes orders but excludes regional delivery time.

We do have a showroom, that can be visited during our office hours, to place in-person orders or to visit for colour and quality comparison.  We keep limited stock at the showroom, so check stock before you visit!

Ordering your product (Online shop)

  • An order is placed by adding an item to your “cart”. You will be required to register as a user on our online shop to make the transactions valid and secure. You must then follow the process to checkout, which allows for the order to be finalized.
Registration allows for a quicker checkout next time!
  • Orders will be received and recognized by Ribbon Place, through an email link. The receipt of an order is not always immediate and can take up to 6 hours during business days, from the time of which the order was placed.
  • Your order will only be processed on succeful completion of your online credit card and instant EFT payments via our payment processing partner PayFast
  • It may take between 3 – 5 working days to ship in stock and available products, due to stock movement activities.

Please make sure the product you are ordering are priced within the constraints of similar products, some errors or omissions may happen, (not very often) and we will treat the incident as a refund, if it is our mistake. Again, please send us a mail if you are unsure of the product you would like to order. Any processing of goods, by yourself or a third party, will result in tacit consent to proper delivery. Where the incorrect goods are supplied due to OUR FAULT, we undertake to make good the delivery within a reasonable time. *Processing by a third party would be for example: where goods are printed onto or cut into lengths, etc.

Ordering your product (Branded Items)

Once you received a written quote via email, and you decide to go with the order please follow the following steps:

Please ensure that every step of the order process is done via EMAIL – telephone or WhatsApp instructions will not be deemed valid. Please use the following email for all email correspondence:
shop@ribbonplace.co.za and send a signed copy of your quote, or a quote acceptance email with reference to your unique quote number to us for processing.

Please make sure the lead time quoted to you allows for enough time for you to receive your order ahead of your event / promotion – Production time always include the last day for manufacturing and exclude any delivery time.

*Kindly note that goods remain the property of Ribbon Place until paid for in full.

Artwork and branding (for custom made and branded items)

Every effort is made to supply quality products, but slight deviation in exact size, placement of art colour and material is possible. Should your order require artwork, we require your artwork in a print ready format (use your design software file like .eps or .ai and import the design into an open format .PDF file) for printing customized items. Please note that e-mail signatures, .jpg, .gif and.bmp files is not sufficient for artwork purposes.

You will be required to sign off a digital artwork approval before production will start. This artwork proof will show the:

  • placement,
  • spacing,
  • ribbon type, width and colour.
  • approximate print colours (or exact colour including pantone reference in case of Dye Sublimation) of your artwork as well as the
  • print type, we used to quote on.

Please make sure you understand the difference between Rotary Printing, Screen-Printing, Metallic Foil Printing and Dye Sublimation. Each of these has unique qualities and limitations that add a different spin on the final branded product.

Our base ribbon is imported/woven in bulk rolls, then heat cut and wound down into printable rolls.  This means you may come across a join in a rare event in your printed or plain rolls.  This is a standard part of the winding and printing process and can unfortunately not be avoided.

Cancellation & Returns Policy (B2B)

We have a very strict NO return or Exchange Policy for BRANDED items. NO returns/exchanges may be made due to your negligence in placing of your orders. It is of extremely important that you exercise due care when placing an order.

Should you decide to cancel an order (branded items) within 24 hours of placing it (and before we have started processing it by allocating stock and resources) we will refund you but it will be subject to a 25% handling fee.

In the event that we delivered a different product from what we quoted on, you will receive a full refund upon investigation and confirmation.

Rentals & Refundable Deposits (B2B)

When renting our prop scissors, Stanchions and other rental items indicated as rentable, we require a refundable deposit for the item, including the rental fee on placing the order.
To be able to receive your deposit back you have to:

  • Return the rented item in the original condition back to our offices, within 3 business days from your rental period.
  • claim your deposit back within the next 3 months by submitting to us a bank confirmation letter not older than 3 months (for the account you wish to receive the funds in).

Your deposit will then be returned into that account, on our next payment run.  Failure to return the item within the specified period, or in the original condition will result in the forfeit of your deposit to recoup our costs.

Images of Products

We made a real effort to display our products as accurately as possible on the website. But due to technical differences between computers our colours may not display exactly the same colour on your computer screen. Should this be a big concern to you rather ask for swatches or send us one of yours (we also have Pantone charts available for colour matching). – so we cannot guarantee the colour and proportion which are displayed on the computer monitor at the time at which the order is placed, as a computer monitor’s colour and proportion may vary from monitor to monitor.

Ribbon Colours

(B2B and Online Shop/Direct Sales)

Be aware that colours of ribbon, may vary slightly from batch to batch. This is to be expected of our standard in stock colours.

Joins in Rolls

All our ribbon products are wound down from giant spools of ribbon fabric.  It may happen that one of the rolls you order has a joined piece in it.  Unfortunately this cannot be avoided, as we joint the big rolls together and then spool them into smaller rolls.  Please be aware that this joined piece can be cut out, or run through your printer (it will not do any damage).
