About Ribbon Place in South Africa

Ribbon Place is a family-owned, female only company that specifically focusses on decorative branded ribbons and related narrow fabric products.

Ribbon Place consists of two integrated parts: 

The B2B division:

• Handles sales of branded corporate, event and decorative custom branded ribbons,
• Medal award ribbons,
• Ribbon cutting ceremony kits.
• Bow making services for corporates and retail customers.
• Rental services of stanchions, carpets and scissors for ribbon cutting events.
• Custom branded clothing brand labels, wash-care labels and size tags.
• Custom made lanyards and related products
• Finishing teams assembling and making custom ribbons and bows for bespoke orders.

These services and products work on quote and lead times attached to the various production types for the printing / manufacturing / import.  We also have minimum order quantities (quite low) related to each of these items.

The second part is the online shop that carries stock:

• Small rolls of a range of plain colour ribbon in satin, organza, petersham.
• Variety of decorative printed and woven ribbons for events, celebrations and holidays.
• Big bows for events and new cars,
• Standard options for ribbon cutting ceremony ribbons (unbranded)
• Plain paper labels and consumables for thermal transfer printing
• Awareness ribbons
• Standard Medal Award Ribbons

 

Our Business Activities

Our business operations consist of a combination of the following activities to ensure the most reliable service with the best quality products:

• We print and manufacture custom-made ribbon products in-house.
• We also import some of our popular decorative- and branded products, that cannot be sourced or printed locally.
• Then we have strategic business partnerships with local weavers and manufacturers where we outsource some work to ensure the absolute best quality products, widest variety, in the biggest quantities that can be produced locally for our customers in the best possible time frames.

This approach enables us to reliably supply the best quality products in the biggest manufacturing volumes at the most affordable prices.  This makes us a trusted supplier for many of South Africa’s largest marketing, events and retail companies.

 

Our Print technologies

The print capabilities we utilize include

• screen-printing for crispy single colour prints with ink that sits on top of the ribbon for a luxurious finish on satin, petersham, cotton ribbon and TPU tape.
• Rotary printing in up to 6 solid spot colours for colours that pop on white satin, petersham, cotton ribbon and TPU tape
• Dye-sublimation in full colour on single or double sided satin and petersham ribbon for photo finished quality prints.
• Metallic Foil press printing that is done with a heat press and thermal transfer printing machines in a variety of beautiful metallic finishes on satin ribbons.
• Thermal Transfer Printing for custom labels and incidental short run ribbon prints.

Our Location

We physically see customers at our small showroom in Pretoria, but we are available for online consultations for remote customers and often send samples of our work to new customers in other provinces to confirm the quality of our products before first time purchases.

All our products are shipped nationwide in South Africa, using a variety of courier partners and we offer the following shipping options that will suit every budget: We have partnered with The Courier Guy, SkyNet, BoB Box, RAM, Internet Express and Pargo.

Our Customer Base

Our current customer base for the B2B part of Ribbon Place consists of marketing, events, agencies and retail companies.  We also supply manufacturers in the fabric industry (clothing and linen) with labels for their products. Corporate companies such as medical, manufacturing in the food and beverage industry buy event and product promotional ribbon and lanyards from us. While MOQ’s do apply, it’s relatively small (starting at 100 meters).

Anyone can purchase from in the online shop as there is small quantities available with no minimum purchase requirements.

The online shop is aimed at anyone who wants. Customers buy for wedding invites, décor and thank you gifts, birthdays and the parties.  Small schools buy generic award ribbons and small retail companies stock some of my ribbon rolls.
