About Screen-Printing On Ribbon

Screen printing is the process of transferring a stenciled design onto a flat surface using a mesh screen, ink and a squeegee. Fabric is the most common substrate for screen-printing and narrow fabrics is no exception.

When preparing a screen-printed ribbon project we will need to create a stencil plate with your chosen artwork. Because it is a “stencil or stamp” type of process we are not able to print any 3D or shaded artwork when using this kind of print.  

Once the screen plate is made, we use it to do a setup, where we mount the screen, and the ribbon, and run a few meters to make sure the alignments, position and spacing between prints is perfect.

Screen-printed ribbon refers to a single colour print onto a coloured ribbon.. For instance For instance Screen-Printed Ribbon works well for a white print on a red ribbon.

Screen-printing on ribbon has the following limitations:

• The Minimum ribbon width is 10 mm and maximum is 150 mm for satin ribbon.
• On petersham ribbon we print on 15 and 20mm, with selected ribbon colours available in 25mm wide.
• Maximum artwork repeat is 500 mm.
• Single color print only, can be done on woven or satin ribbon – choose any one of our woven or satin ribbon colours to print on.
• Print colour can be matched to a specific pantone colour for accuracy.
• The Minimum order quantity is 200 meters.
