Digital Artwork Proofs: Your Final Checkpoint Before Printing

At Ribbon Place we use digital artwork proofs for all our main printing processes:
screen printing, digital printing, dye sublimation, rotary printing, and foiling.

What Are Digital Artwork Proofs?

Digital artwork proofs (also called soft proofs or email proofs) are high-resolution PDF previews created from the print-ready files you supply. They show exactly how your design will look once we have imported your files into our production software and prepared them for the specific printing method you have chosen.
This is your chance to check the final layout, colours, positioning and overall appearance before any ink touches the ribbon.

Why Proof Approval Is a Critical Step

After we receive your artwork, the files are imported into our production system and arranged into the exact layout required for the press or machine. Although our team carefully checks every job, small issues can occasionally occur during file import — such as slight shifting of elements, text reflow, missing details, or unexpected cropping. You know your project and brand better than anyone. We see your design for the first time during production setup. Even with our experience, we may not notice subtle details that matter to you. Your written approval of the proof gives us formal authorisation to proceed to print and ensures we are completely aligned on the final result. This protects both you and us from costly mistakes.

What to Check Before Approving Your Proof

Please review the following carefully:
  • Content accuracy — Spelling, grammar, phone numbers, email addresses, websites, dates and names
  • Design elements — Correct logos, images, text placement and orientation
  • Layout & positioning — Nothing missing, cut off or shifted. Check bleeds and margins
  • Text size — The smallest legible text we can reliably print is 3–4 mm in height. Any text smaller than this will not be readable on the finished ribbon
  • Overall appearance — Does it match your vision for the final product?
  • Multiple versions — If your order includes different designs or sizes, please check every page

Pro tip: Open the proof at 100% zoom. If possible, print it out and review a physical copy. Reading the text aloud often helps catch errors that are easy to miss on screen.

 

Important Reminder

Approving your digital proof is the most important step in preventing expensive reprints. Once you give written approval, production begins. Please take your time, review the proof carefully, and request any changes you need — that is exactly what this stage is for.
